Frequently Asked Questions

Sessions take place online, which is to say wherever you are. All you need is a room with an internet connection and privacy. You'll receive a link to the session, and all you have to do is to click on it at the scheduled time.

Each session has a standard duration of 50 minutes. Once the time is up, the psychologist will conclude the session.

Each session costs 40€. This is a health expense, so the client can add their Portuguese tax number. After booking, the client is asked to pay for the appointment before it takes place. The payment methods available are Bank Transfer, Mbway and Spin.

The information shared with the psychologist is completely confidential. Professional secrecy can only be lifted in exceptional situations where the client may pose a risk to themselves or others. Such situations will be discussed with the client in advance, so confidentiality would never be breached without prior notice.

The first session can be cancelled at no cost. If the client decides not to begin therapy, the fee will be refunded. Once therapy has started, the client may reschedule one session a month for free, provided there is a valid reason. Any additional rescheduling within the same month will incur a 5€ fee per session.

For more consistent results, weekly sessions are recommended. However, the client and the psychologist may agree to schedule sessions every two weeks.

Scientific studies prove that psychology sessions online are just as effective as face-to-face. Whether you choose the online or face-to-face method depends on what you feel more comfortable with. Because it is online, the client often feels less exposed and it is easier to broach sensitive topics, in addition to the security of being in their own space and the flexibility of fitting the session into their weekly routine, with no time spent travelling.

Sessions can be conducted in Portuguese or English, depending on which language the client feels more comfortable with. Please note that the psychologist's native language is European Portuguese, and she has C2-level fluency in English.

Although a therapeutic process presupposes commitment, if the client starts the psychotherapeutic process and does not identify with the process, they have the right to end it at any time, if they so wish.

There is no predetermined duration for psychotherapy. The client may choose to continue long-term to address various issues as they arise, or may decide to end the process after addressing specific concerns. The duration will be discussed collaboratively, in accordance with the therapeutic goals.
